Introduction

Saint Raphael, and more specifically Agay Bay, is an ideal location for all kinds of water sports, including paddleboarding.

Stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), or more commonly known as paddleboarding, is a water sport that has become particularly popular in recent years. This activity is part of the water sports family. Standing on a board (similar to a surfboard), you navigate using a paddle.

Why choose paddleboarding in Saint-Raphaël?

The beauty of the Saint-Raphaël coastline

Agay Bay is an ideal place for paddleboarding. It offers ideal conditions thanks to the often calm sea in the heart of the bay. This makes it easy to get to grips with this activity. What’s more, throughout your session you can admire the magnificent Esterel massif and its red rocks plunging into the sea.

The seabed of Agay is teeming with unique biodiversity. Don’t hesitate to bring a snorkeling mask with you during your paddleboarding session so you can take breaks to admire the hidden beauty of the seabed.

An activity accessible to all

Paddleboarding is an activity with many advantages.

It allows you to explore the coastline while preserving the environment.

It also allows you to take care of yourself, as this activity helps you work on your balance and strengthen all your internal muscles, especially your abs.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced paddler, paddleboarding is suitable for everyone. If balance is not your strong point, you can choose to paddle while sitting astride the board or kneeling on it. These are certainly unconventional positions, but they work just as well.

Agay: The ideal spot for paddleboarding rentals

A sheltered bay

The Agay harbor is known for its unique geography. It is a cove located between two rocky points, La Baumette and Les Pointes Longues. This makes it particularly sheltered from weather fluctuations. Agay Bay is generally calm and sheltered from the wind, making it the perfect place to practice stand-up paddleboarding away from the swell and gusts. In addition to offering ideal conditions for beginners, Agay Bay is a magnificent spot where red rocks meet the azure blue of the Mediterranean.

Diversity of routes

From the Agay Beach Club, you can paddle in different areas depending on your level.

For beginners, we recommend staying in Agay harbor, which is naturally protected from the wind. This allows you to learn paddleboarding in the best possible conditions (no waves, little current).

For more experienced paddlers, you can head towards La Baumette and continue on to the lighthouse. If you feel comfortable, you can extend your trip by following the coastline to discover the many coves of the Corniche d’Or.

For safety and legal reasons, you cannot leave the 300-meter zone (from the shore) on a paddleboard. This means you cannot paddle to Île d’Or from the Beach Club.

Tips for a successful paddleboarding experience in Saint-Raphaël

Safety first

Our paddleboards are suitable for 1 or 2 people. For safety reasons, no more than 2 people are allowed on a board.

We remind you of the importance of wearing a life jacket for any activity at sea. On site, don’t hesitate to ask our super Beach Boys for a life jacket. They will be happy to equip you and give you valuable navigation advice.

As with any water activity, it is important to follow the rules of navigation. A map is available at the base to remind you of the areas where you can navigate. We advise beginners to always stay close to the shore so that our teams can keep an eye on you and intervene in case of a problem.

Finally, weather conditions must be carefully assessed before going out to sea, even on a paddleboard. Please listen carefully to the advice of our on-site instructors. In the event of a change in weather conditions, our teams may have to cancel or end your session early if your safety is compromised.

Respect the environment

Let’s all do our best to preserve our magnificent Var coastline. Sailing in Agay Bay is a real privilege, as the location is so beautiful, but to ensure it stays that way, we encourage you to leave no trace of your visit. Remember to pick up any trash and do not throw anything into the sea. By acting together, we can protect marine biodiversity.

Conclusion

Whether you are a beginner or an expert at stand-up paddleboarding, you are all welcome to come and enjoy this enjoyable activity in the magnificent setting of the Var coastline, which only Agay Bay can offer.

Whether you are alone, with family or friends, don’t hesitate to discover this activity that is good for the body and mind.

Want even more? Esterel Aventures will soon be offering transparent paddleboards so you can enjoy this fun activity while observing the seabed of the bay.
